Over scheduled?

I've had evening events for the last 6 nights. This past weekend, we had 7 things to attend. May is nuts. So does one grit their teeth and bear it, with the possibility of turning something that should be fun into something to just check off? or does one start eliminating stuff from their calendar?

When does the art get done?

With that in mind, I revisited an Evite for tonight and changed my reply to "no." Now, what else can I eliminate so I can get back to enjoying myself at a few activities instead of "just showing up" to several?

To add something positive to this post and not sound like a total Negative Nelly, I'm going to mention something I love that makes my mornings awesome: Steel-cut Oatmeal. My best friend just came into town and ate some of my favorite morning meal and enjoyed it so much she took some back with her with these simple cooking instructions:

1 cup steel-cut oatmeal
3 cups water
put on stove and cook on medium until desired consistency is reached (approx 40 mins). Soak overnight to reduce cooking time.
Serves 3-4

The oatmeal pictured here is served with juice-sweetened cranberries, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes and a pinch of salt. I can't get too sweet in the morning so I actually don't put in any extra sugar, but my kids do. I often eat my oatmeal with an egg over easy and a pinch of salt, so you can go savory if sugar isn't your bag.
