The Facts of Life

Tis true. You win some, you lose some. I admit after the last few rejections to print shows I'm beginning to wonder about my work--recent not-good-enoughs are below. Typically I have the "I don't care if you like it or not" attitude, but this last rejection kinda stung. Oh well. Soldier on! Today to get over my blahs, I'm cleaning cabinets. It sounds lame, but it's been pretty effective. Tomorrow I head into the studio to work on another potential reject. I plan on taking the approach that I need to continue working in the direction that makes me happy, and damn the naysayers.

Yes. Keep working. And don't listen to the noise and rejections. There are so many artists these days it is tough to compete. Do what you love......

Cathy I have been there too .............and have sometimes seen the pieces that were selected over my own........and thought you can not be serious !!!
there's no doubt for example that It's often "political' certain people are "in" the exhib. because of who they are, rather than what they do, then of course there is the lottery of personal taste.....and so it goes on and on.........

anyway you are doing the right thing as in doing something like cleaning out the cabinets which will be giving a small sense of accomplishment when completed.
I was so impressed with the print austin that you put together what a mammoth task

so keep at it as I KNOW you will anyway - dunderheads thats what these people are !!
Roberta is right there are a lot of people that we are competing with so its tough she has made some very lovely work hasnt she !!

best wishes

Aine

Even though it's pretty basic, I think this article is helpful on facing rejection: http://blog.uncommongoods.com/2014/when-your-design-isnt-accepted/

Thanks Laura. I saw your FB link to this probably a day after I wrote my post and found it helpful. Thanks for reaching out!
