Well, I had a studio visit (my first!) from a prospective patron on Monday. It went OK, I guess. She borrowed a framed printed to see if it would work in her home, though I've since heard it doesn't. She did admire a piece on my desk, just a proof of an etching with some hand coloring (pictured above), and we're meeting again next week after I declare it finished. I've been mulling over what more, if any, to do and will also try it on for size with my critique group on Sunday. Funny thing, I've shown the group the print before and rec'd lukewarm results. I've been hanging onto it for months, not wanting to give up and not knowing where it should go. The night before the studio visit I thought I'd do some work--why not? My desk was totally cleaned off in preparation for the visit! And viola. While flipping through my huge pile of prints that need something, it came to me to add the hand coloring.
After the visit I decided a few things:
1. Time to up my web presence
2. Time to get serious about working. Set a goal and get back in the studio daily. I'm at Flatbed one night a week faithfully, but that is not enough. (Even though we've chucked our TV, this colder weather gives me the knitting bug--my current time suck.)
3. Go to an art opening once a month.
4. Update my marketing materials, business cards, postcards, etc. And get really cool notecards like my friend Beth created at moo.com. The image size is 4x4 and there's a perferated side so you can stand it up. Brilliant!
5. Approach galleries in 2009.
So now I've started a blog, upping my web presence, LOL. Not sure where this will lead, but for now, I'm venturing out.
