Here are instructions on how to create a Stratograph. It's a hi res jpg and you should be able to click on it, open it, and print it. If you're having difficulties, just write a comment and I'll email you a copy. The author of this document, Anna Marie Pavlik, has made some beautiful prints using this method. I encourage to follow
this link to see some of her work.

© Cathy Savage. Stratograph on left, stencil on right |
When I mentioned Stratographs the other day, I couldn't find my stencil at the time of the post--and this is where my gremlin comes in--but the stencil ended up appearing on the top of my clean desk after I looked for it for about an hour. Anyway, here's a picture of the stencil to the right of the print. The stencil is a little banged up since he's been in a manilla folder for years, then of course he went AWOL. He was cut out of poster board with and exacto that was first outlined in marker.

Stencil with handkerchief |
Here's an up close of his handkerchief. You can see itty bitty pieces of
blue tape that are clasping the vellum to the stencil. I used 3-D craft
paint for the bandana decoration. I remember not liking the way it came
out, but there's potential there.

If you try this, I'd love to see some pics!

Oh Cathy you really are the bees knees when it comes to printmakers blogs and believe it or not I only came on here to find out if you mentioned using "vellum" anywhere on your blog. Thats for a separate reason. I will email you about that but getting back to your topic here. I just love this process/technique. I became are of it through Monika Meller - do you know of her?. Some of her pieces made using this technique are what we call 'drop dead gorgeous' !!!
I might have another go at this. I have had 2 attempts at it so far and the results were OK but not great BUT I shall read through that article you have included in this post( thanks as always) and see how I get on. If I am pleased with it I will post you a photo.
take care
best wishes
Aine
