My NC studio

My good friend, Preston Woodruff of Appalachian Tree Works, lives in the very town my family has invaded--Brevard, NC. He was generous to provide me with a long bench to do my own work and I've managed to put in some time between ukulele playing, hiking, and general R&R.

Preston's workshop is amazing and inspiring. Here's a glimpse of what I see when I walk in. Doesn't that make you want to pick something off the wall can gouge a piece of wood?

Preston makes all kinds of things, but of late he has spent time building and crafting this dulcimer.

Preston makes beautiful bowls and wooden spoons. This is the first time I've seen him make one of these creatures, which he calls green men. He has one on his front door.
